Dog Whistle 128

Whistle once. Bring your dogs home.

Released Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge Client & server
A player uses a copper-accented whistle at sunset while three tamed dogs run back across a Minecraft forest.

Why it exists

Tamed wolves disappear mid-build and mid-fight. Dog Whistle 128 adds one tool: a whistle that calls them back. It does not change their AI, movement speed or pathfinding. It recalls them when you need them.

What it does

Recall every standing tamed dog you own within 128 blocks, in the same dimension and currently loaded.

Right-click

Recalls standing dogs. Sitting dogs stay put — sitting is treated as an intentional command.

Sneak + right-click

Overrides that rule and recalls sitting dogs as well, for the moments when everyone needs to come home.

Safe placement

Dogs appear in free positions near you. They are never stacked into the same block, and lava, fire, magma, cacti, sweet berry bushes, campfires, powder snow and wither roses are avoided.

Only animals tamed by you respond. Wild wolves and other players’ pets ignore the whistle.

How it fits

A small system that stays native to Minecraft. Vanilla wolves work with no extra mods. Optional support for Quark Shibas and Foxhounds, and for [Let’s Do] WilderNature dogs and red wolves.

Compatibility is tag-based: #dogwhistle:recallable_dogs. Other modded canines can be made compatible through a datapack, without an update to Dog Whistle 128.

Limits

The whistle searches only within 128 blocks, in your current dimension, inside currently loaded chunks. A dog farther away or in an unloaded chunk cannot be recalled.

A global recall system would need persistent position tracking. That is intentionally outside the scope of this mod.
