Groundskeeper
Plant it, forget it, the ground stays clean.
Why it exists
Grass, ferns and stray saplings creep back into finished builds. Groundskeeper adds one autonomous marker: place it once, and it periodically keeps a fixed area clear of unwanted vegetation — without a villager or a complicated machine.
What it does
Craft a Groundskeeper Marker and place it where the terrain should stay tidy. On its schedule it scans around itself and removes only vegetation on its maintenance whitelist. Nothing else is touched.
Clears grass, ferns, saplings and compatible modded plants. Crops, farmland, flowers, logs, mature trees and buildings are left alone.
Every marker lights itself when it gets dark and switches off during the day. No extra redstone.
Three tiers
| Tier | Radius | Runs every | Low leaves | Collects drops |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lapis Lazuli | 8 blocks | 3 Minecraft days | No | No |
| Emerald | 12 blocks | 2 Minecraft days | Yes | No |
| Ender Pearl | 16 blocks | 1 Minecraft day | Yes | Yes |
Each tier includes the functionality of the one below it. Leaf pruning only considers leaves within 3 blocks of the ground in their column, so the rest of the canopy stays intact.
How it fits
Scheduled area scans against an explicit whitelist — no villager AI, no pathfinding, no forced chunk loading.
Vegetation from other mods can be included through tags:
#groundskeeper:clearable_ground_plants,
#groundskeeper:saplings,
#groundskeeper:prunable_leaves.
Ender Pearl collection
Place a chest or barrel directly underneath an Ender Pearl marker and harvested drops go into it automatically. Matching stacks fill first, then empty slots. If the container is full, excess drops are discarded instead of scattering on the ground.
