Seal of the Stone

Find the nearest deposit without ever seeing through walls.

Released Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge Client & server
A player holds a glowing Seal of the Stone toward a cliff face at sunset while nearby ores resonate in the rock.

Why it exists

No X-ray, no coordinates on screen, no ghost blocks — just a scan that tells you which direction to dig. The stone answers; it does not show you through the wall.

What it does

Craft the Seal of the Stone, right-click to open the mineral catalog, pick a substance, scan. It searches a sphere of already-loaded terrain around you, groups connected ore blocks into a single deposit, and reports the nearest one.

3D guidance, not a cheat overlay

A directional HUD gives distance in blocks, a plain-word direction, and how far above or below your feet the deposit sits. Local resonance only.

A catalog that grows with the world

Every vanilla ore, plus Zinc, Silver, Lead, Jade, Uranium and Nickel, split across Metals, Gems and Rocks. Compatible ore mods appear automatically via c:ores/<name>.

A cost on purpose

Each scan costs 1 XP (free in Creative) and has a 20-second cooldown. The Advanced Seal of the Stone pays that cost in the recipe: diamonds in place of two base ingredients, then 0 XP and a 5-second cooldown.

How it fits

It only reads loaded terrain. Ore from other mods is picked up through the shared c:ores/<name> tag family, along with related gem, ingot, raw-material and nugget tags. The Pergamena della Pietra used in both recipes is found in abandoned mineshaft chests.
